Your first project

By the end of this walkthrough you’ll have:

• A registered domain you own.
• DNS pointed to your project.
• An email address you can send and receive from on that domain, read in the browser (webmail; no IMAP or POP).

It takes about five minutes. CloudQube is for businesses and you join by invitation, so you’ll need the invite email we sent you. A project on a domain registered through us runs on the monthly plan (€10 per project, excluding VAT). If your invitation came with the plan included, you can skip that part.

1. Set up your account

   Open the link in your invite email and choose a password. CloudQube isn’t offered to private individuals, so you’ll also confirm that you’re using it for work. The link stays valid for a week.

2. Pick a starting point

   Click New Project. You can start from a template, which bundles a domain with the qubes that usually go alongside it, or choose Build your own and add qubes yourself. For this walkthrough, pick Domain + Email, or Business Site if you also want a website with analytics and uptime monitoring. Site / Blog gives you a website without email.

3. Search for a domain

   Under Your web address, type the name you want. The wizard checks it across the common endings and shows each price for the first year and for renewals, excluding VAT.

   Tip

   Pick a .eu if you want EU-jurisdiction registration, or a .com if you want global recognition. They cost about the same.

4. Name your project

   Give the project a name that tells you what it’s for. Only you see it, and you can change it later.

5. Confirm and pay

   Check the domain and the registrant details, which come from your business profile, then pay for the domain at checkout with iDEAL, Bancontact or a card. VAT is added at checkout. If your invitation included domain credit, the first domain is paid from that instead.

6. Wait for setup

   The wizard shows a progress bar while each qube is set up. Domain registration takes 30 to 90 seconds and DNS works as soon as it’s done. The email qube waits for its DNS records to propagate, which usually takes a couple of minutes.

7. You’re done

   You land on the project dashboard. From here you can send a test email, browse to your domain, or add more qubes.

What happens next

We email you once your project is set up, and if you paid for the domain, the VAT invoice arrives by email too. You can change anything from the dashboard, including the project name and the qubes themselves.

Common questions

Do I need a payment method up front?

For the domain, yes, unless your invitation included credit for it. The monthly plan is paid at checkout when you subscribe, and you always see the exact price before you pay.

What if something goes wrong?

The dashboard shows the status of every qube and explains any error in plain language, with a suggested next step. If you’re stuck, use the contact form linked in the footer of every page, or email hello@cloudqube.eu.
